My main interests are in moral philosophy. I am currently working on
projects concerning
- consequentialism
(I'm defending a thorough-going subjective form of consequentialism).
- moral
responsibility (I argue that on a good compatibilist account,
responsibility must be understood as completely dependent on normative
theory - so we have moral responsibility, epistemic responsibility,
aesthetic responsibility and so on, but there is no responsibility
simpliciter). I'm interested in many issues related to moral
responsibility and normative theory, e.g. coercion and punishment.
- externalism
about moral reasons (I'm
for it - it helps a lot with consequentialism but it's true anyway).
- value
pluralism (I'm against it, though I am for various
other sorts of pluralism).
- feminism
(I'm for it), and false consciousness
(I'm against it).
I'd like to work on probability one day. But not
today.
