Would you like to participate in one of our experiments?

Check this page for updates on our experiments and for information on how to sign up (below). Some frequently asked questions are addressed here. Please feel free to contact us for any additional information.

What do the experiments involve?

Our memory experiments typically involve computer based tasks. Some of our experiments use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) - a method of brain imaging.

How long do the experiments take?

A typical computer based memory experiment is likely to take between 30 minutes and 1 hour.

Is there remuneration?

Yes. Most of our memory experiments offer remuneration which will depend on the length and type of experiment.

Am I suitable?

In the past, we have requested people of a certain age or sex, or people with normal or corrected-to-normal hearing and vision. It is important to control these variables because they may have an influence on the outcome of the experiment.

What will happen to my data?

Your data will be anonymous (there will be no link between your name and the data) and it will be kept by the University of Edinburgh for research purposes only. You will be asked to sign a consent form before completing the experiment to state that you agree to this.
