Blending Experiment: Constant Diluent Flow
Experimental Conditions
In this experiment the diluent flowrate is constant and both the
concentrate flowrate and flow out are manipulated variables.
Hence the initial conditions in the tank will be:
- Flow in of Concentrate = 2.5 units per time
- Flow in of Diluent = 10.0 units per time
- Initial concentration of concentrate in the tank = 0.2 units per volume
- Initial holdup in tank = 25 units
- Initial flow out of tank = 12.5 units per time
- Initial valve constant = 0.5
Pre-Experimental Questions
This experiment has been split into three sections:
- Obtaining the Gain Matrix
- Obtaining the RGA
- Running With Two Control Loops
The first two parts are a quantitative analysis of the system to obtain
the gain matrix and Relative Gain Array. The third part is simply a
qualitative analysis of the system to verify the findings of the first
two parts.
Please work through each of these in turn answering the questions as you
go along.
Note: You can reset the controller parameters to their default settings at
any time by clicking on the reload button in the browser toolbar. Unless specified
in the experiment instructions, the defaults should be used.
