To determine the recommended controller pairings we choose the ones which are closest to one in each row and column. From the third row it is apparent that u2 should be paired with y3 as this is the only non-negative element in that row although its relative gain of 3.314 is further from 1.0 than the alternative pairing of u2-y1. The remaining pairings are then taken as u1-y1 u3-y4 u4-y2.
