This module is concerned with one aspect of the hardware associated with a control system, namely the measuring devices.

Basic requirements for measuring sensors
Pressure 'Differential' Transducers
- Strain meter - resistance change
- Piezo - electric sensor - e.m.f change
- Traditional transducer - back pressure change in an air pipeline
Level Measurement
- Pressure operated sensor - pressure change
- Float operated sensor - position change
- Capacity bridge sensor - capacitance change
- Optical sensor - light signal change
Flow Measurement
- Differential pressure methods - pressure drop change
- Rotating vane meter - frequency change
Temperature Measurement
- Resistance thermometer and thermistor - resistance change
- Thermocouple - e.m.f change
- Silicon semiconductor - pass-required voltage change
